Enforcement: Microsoft 365 Activex Gets Closure

Microsoft deactivate the support for activex in its office package Microsoft 365. In April, the Windows versions of Microsoft words, Excel, PowerPoints and Visios Activex will no longer be default and users will no longer indicate it. This should raise the security level of the software.

Activex has been considered naturally insecure since 2003. “Cementac and Trend Micro Show’s Security Advisor: ‘Safe Activex-Control’ is nothing like,” Heise Security Manager Jürgen Schmidt wrote in his comment at that time. Because: “If you establish an activex control over your computer, it is safe or unsafe as a normal program: if the developer writes in control: ‘Remove all the files on this system’, it removes all the files from which the user has started.”

In the last two and a half decades, Microsoft has repeatedly created on the activex system and for example, it is possible to neutralize individual Activx modules in the Internet Explorer, which is resting peacefully. Finally, Activex has repeatedly proved to be an entrance for malware and IT attackers.

In Office 2024, Microsoft has already switched the Activex support for release in October, now on the above Microsoft-365 application (version from 2504 or 18730.20030). The shutdown has already been made in beta channel, such as one Blogpost microsofts Informed Some activex objects will therefore appear as a stable photo, but the conversation will no longer be possible.

Activex does not end. If you like to live by risk, you can determine in the attitude of the trust center that you will be given the opportunity to manually activate individual Acxivex objects. If there is a group administrator, it can stop it, or release it to all its sheep.

After all, you know who will blame. And if someone provides you an update for Punarcian Activx, the alarm bell should shrink.
