The new Vmax VX2 is a true powerhouse among extreme e-scooters. With 500 Watts nominal power and up to 1600 Watts peak power, it powerfully accelerates even heavy drivers up to 150 kg. It also has a large 4-inch display, 10-inch tires and indicators. We tested the Power e-scooter.
E-scooter brand Vmax is known for its powerful models with powerful engines. This is also evident in the new Vmax VX2 Extreme. Depending on the battery size, this electric scooter has a range of up to 75 km and can carry people weighing up to 150 kg due to its reinforced frame construction. starting with the price 949 euros For the smallest version with a 499 Wh battery, it’s also comparatively affordable. If you want more range, go for the middle class with 624 Wh 999 euros or for the top version with 792 Wh 1099 eurosWe test whether the Vmax VX2 Extreme is worth its high price.
Structure, optics and workmanship
Setting up the Vmax VX2 Extreme is quick and easy. Here it is no different from most e-scooters. After unpacking, you just need to tighten four screws to attach the handlebar. Then pump up the 10-inch pneumatic tires and you’re ready to go – with a suitable helmet (best listed) on your head, of course.
Visually, the e-scooter makes an inconspicuous and uncluttered impression. This is mainly due to the almost entirely matte black paintwork, only brightened by a small white VMAX logo on the handlebar. Overall, we would have liked a few more color accents in an otherwise fairly sober design.
The workmanship of the Vmax scooter appears to be high quality and solid. The handlebars don’t wobble and the cables for the brakes are well integrated into the handlebars.
The simple folding mechanism is positive: using the safety lever, the handlebar can be folded back onto the footboard and locked into the eyelet provided. This makes it easier to carry the e-scooter when needed. If you fold it, it has compact dimensions of 50 x 58.4 x 111.8 cm and a weight of 20.5 kg (LT), 21.2 kg (ST) or 21.3 kg (depending on battery capacity GT). When opened, it measures 123.8 x 58.4 x 111.8 cm. The running board is not particularly long at 56 cm, but wide enough at 19 cm.
Another plus is the IP protection class X6. This means that the scooter can withstand strong jets of water from all directions. This makes all those who have to drive through wet puddles happy. When it comes to maximum payload, the Vmax VX2 Extreme reaches 150 kg and is therefore particularly suitable for heavier people.

Handlebar and Display
The handlebars of the VMax scooter appear overloaded and disorganized. This is due, on the one hand, to the uneven surface pattern of the rubberized handle, and, on the other hand, to the seven buttons on the left and right sides of the handlebar. Their mostly black plastic surfaces also look a little cheap. At least the bell is integrated into the left brake lever to save space. There is also a USB-A charging socket to charge the smartphone.
The 4-inch TFT color display in the middle scores points with its size and clarity. It displays information like speed in decimal places, battery capacity in percentage and total mileage in kilometers.
turn signals and lights
We obviously welcome the integrated indicators at the ends of the handlebar and at the rear, as they significantly increase visibility and thus enhance driving safety. Unfortunately, there is no acoustic signal when flashing and due to the rubber cover, the driver does not see any visual feedback. Here you should always be careful in switching off the turn signal after turning.
The front LED light is pleasantly bright and its orientation can be easily changed. The rear lights become very bright when the brakes are applied. This is also a useful security feature.
To drive
The heart of the Vmax VX2 Extreme is its powerful rear wheel-mounted motor, with a nominal power of 500 watts and a peak power of 1600 watts. This makes it one of the most powerful e-scooter motors we have tested so far. You feel the power as soon as you start – the engine is so strong that you must consciously lean forward to avoid inadvertent wheelies.
What’s impressive is how quickly the VMax scooter accelerates from a standstill to top speed. In Germany a maximum speed of 20 km/h plus 10 percent tolerance is allowed. The VX2 Extreme takes advantage of this requirement down to the last km/h. Using GPS measurements, we determined a top speed of around 21.8 km/h – you can’t exceed this without risking trouble with the authorities. This means that this scooter has lived up to its name Vmax.
The braking system of the Vmax VX2 is less reliable. It has an electric motor brake at the rear and a mechanical drum brake at the front. Although this combination tends to be quite slow in practice, it would be better to add another physical brake on the rear wheel. Still, the Vmax scooter comes to a reliable halt.
By far the biggest drawback of the Vmax scooter is the lack of suspension: you won’t find it on both the front and rear wheels. Even large-volume 10-inch pneumatic tires cannot adequately absorb bumps in the road. This lack of comfort hardly plays a role on smooth surfaces. However, if you regularly have to hit uneven dirt roads, gravel roads or cobblestones, you should choose a full-suspension model.
Battery
The Vmax VX2 Extreme is offered in three performance tiers, which differ in battery capacity. The basic model with a 499 Wh battery, the medium version with a 624 Wh battery and the largest version with a 792 Wh battery capacity. Actual range varies between 40 and 60 kilometers depending on the model.
price
In terms of price, the Vmax VX2 Extreme starts with a 499 Wh battery and a range of around 40 kilometers 949 eurosMedium version with 624 Wh battery and correspondingly higher mileage cost 999 eurosFor the top version with 792 Wh you have to 1099 euros put on the table.
conclusion
The new Vmax VX2 Extreme is an impressively powerful yet very sturdily built e-scooter specifically designed to suit the needs of heavier riders weighing up to 150kg in hilly to mountainous environments. Its 1600-watt motor accelerates very quickly and can handle even steep slopes with ease. It also has a high-quality 4-inch TFT display, low-maintenance 10-inch tires and an integrated indicator for greater safety.
We don’t like the overloaded handlebars and, above all, the complete lack of suspension. We definitely want comfortable full suspension for the next generation. The VX2 Extreme is therefore less suitable for uneven terrain.
