E-scooters don’t have to be expensive. 5th Wheel proves this impressively with the V30 Pro. For just over 300 euros, the buyer gets a solidly built electric scooter with some exciting additional features that are otherwise more familiar from more expensive models. These include indicators and suspension on the rear wheel.

Structure, optics and workmanship
As with most e-scooters, setting up the 5th Wheel V30 Pro is child’s play. Only four screws need to be inserted to fix the handlebar. The tires do not need to be inflated as they are airless tires with a honeycomb structure. The so-called honeycomb tires are practically puncture-proof, but do not absorb impacts as well as pneumatic tires. After charging the battery, you can start work – we recommend wearing a helmet. In our list of the best smart helmets we show which helmets are suitable for e-scooters.
Visually, the 5th wheel V30 Pro is particularly unobtrusive. It is decorated mainly with simple gray and black colors. Only the rear disc brake has a red accent. The good cable management of the e-scooter is pleasing. Only one brake cable goes from the brake handle to the handlebar. Another cable is very discreetly laid at the bottom of the scooter.
The workmanship of the 5th Wheel V30 Pro makes a good first impression. The handlebar does not wobble and the lighting is neatly integrated. Only the rear plastic mudguard looks a bit wobbly. We would have liked a more stable solution here as it can be damaged if kicked. The maximum payload of the e-scooter is 120 kg.
The folding mechanism of the V30 Pro is simple but effective. In our case, the safety levers had to be readjusted using the included tool – but this was possible without any problems. The handlebars can be folded onto the rear mudguard and stowed there. In this state the e-scooter can be carried comfortably. With a weight of less than 15 kg, it is not particularly heavy for an electric scooter. This makes it particularly interesting for commuters who regularly have to carry the V30 Pro up stairs or onto buses and trains. When folded, the 5th wheel V30 Pro measures 1130 × 485 × 460 mm, when opened it measures 1130 × 485 × 1215 mm. With IP54 certification, it is protected against water splashes from all directions, but is not waterproof. Caution is advised in heavy rain or puddles.

Handlebars and Display
The handlebar grips of the 5th Wheel V30 Pro are not ergonomically shaped, but they are well padded and easy to hold. There is a clearly visible indicator at the end of each handlebar. However, there is no signal light at the rear of the e-scooter. If you have an e-scooter without an indicator, you can easily retrofit it. We show which models are recommended in our top 5 list: The best indicator for e-scooters for retrofitting. The turn signal controls are located on the left side of the handlebar. Pleasant: After about ten seconds, the indicator turns off again automatically. This means there is no need for annoying manual switching after turning.
On the right side of the handlebar is a thumb grip for motor control. It is pleasantly lightweight, which is beneficial for long trips. This means your thumb doesn’t get tired as quickly.
The simple display is stylishly integrated into the middle of the handlebar. It has a multi-assignment button and displays the most important information such as speed, selected support level and battery level. There is also a smartphone app for the V30 Pro. However, it hardly offers any additional value. The most useful thing is the option to activate the immobilizer in the app. However, this will hardly deter potential thieves as they can easily take the scooter away. Still, it’s better than nothing. A high-quality lock offers significantly more security. In our guide to bicycle locks for e-bikes and e-scooters we show which models reliably protect against thieves: smart, with app, alarm and GPS.

The lighting system of the 5th Wheel V30 Pro is pleasant. The front light is firmly integrated and is bright enough. It’s a pity that the beam angle cannot be adjusted. The rear light is also integrated into the overall system and also lights up when braking. This increases visibility for following traffic in the dark and thus also increases the safety of the driver.
To drive
The 5th Wheel V30 Pro impresses with its agile and dynamic driving behavior. It performs particularly well on flat, smooth surfaces such as asphalt. The driving experience is direct and the e-scooter remains under your control at all times. However, the ergonomics are not optimal for very short or very tall people as the handlebars cannot be adjusted in height.
The airless 10-inch tyres with a honeycomb structure offer the advantage of being puncture-proof. This gives you a good feeling, especially on long journeys away from your own front door – a flat tyre is practically impossible. To achieve this, drivers have to compromise on comfort. Honeycomb tyres absorb bumps such as stones or potholes in the asphalt much worse than classic pneumatic tyres. The lack of suspension on the front wheel also has a negative effect here. Larger tyres and full suspension would have been desirable for comfortable driving on bumpy roads.
However, the V30 Pro’s rear suspension works perfectly and performs admirably. It’s pleasantly soft and at least smooths out small bumps well. However, the unsprung front wheel quickly reaches its limits when dealing with larger impacts. Driving on dirt roads is generally possible, but it’s only partially fun. Ultimately, the 5th Wheel V30 Pro is more of an e-scooter for the city than an off-road model. If you want to travel away from paved roads, you should take a look at our list of the best off-road e-scooters.
The V30 Pro has a 350-watt motor in its front wheel, which can deliver 520 watts of power at its peak. We were easily able to reach the maximum allowed speed of 20 km/h with a driver weight of around 80 kg. However, we already had significantly more powerful engines in the test in comparison. Engine performance can be limited, especially for heavier people. The engine also loses power quickly on long, steep climbs. However, the engine power is sufficient on level ground and for riders weighing up to around 90 kg.
The 5th Wheel V30 Pro is slowed down via the brake handle on the right side of the handlebar. This simultaneously activates the electric motor brake on the front wheel and the mechanical disc brake on the rear wheel. In practice, the braking performance is impressive. The e-scooter stops immediately and in a reasonable distance. Slow, measured braking is also possible.
Battery
The battery on the 5th Wheel V30 Pro is quite small with a capacity of 270 Wh. The manufacturer promises a range of 32 km. However, this was determined under ideal conditions. These conditions practically never exist in urban stop-and-go traffic. This is why we were only able to travel a little less than 20 km in the test, with a driver weight of 80 kg, in city traffic, with the highest support level and at a warm outside temperature of 20 degrees. This is enough for trips to the supermarket, bakery or office. However, if you want to travel longer distances, you will have to charge the V30 Pro more often.
price
The 5th wheel V30 Pro scores points when it comes to price. It is already available on Amazon 340 Euros Available (click on the coupon box). Geekmaxi provided us with the e-scooter. There it costs from a coupon DIGUNITQ Small 400 Euros. Considering the equipment with additional features such as rear wheel suspension, indicators and mechanical disc brakes, this is a very reasonable price. E-scooters with similar features often cost more than 500 euros.
conclusion
The 5th Wheel V30 Pro surprised us in the test with a very good price-performance ratio. For less than 400 euros you get a solidly built e-scooter with some premium features such as indicators and app connection. The motor is powerful enough for most users and the brakes work reliably.
The low weight and simple folding mechanism are also positives. This makes the V30 Pro suitable for commuters who need to carry their e-scooter regularly. The rear suspension works effectively, but we miss the suspension on the front wheel. The relatively small battery also limits the range of action.
Overall, the 5th Wheel V30 Pro offers good features and performance at its affordable price. If you are looking for a cheap entry into the world of e-scooters and are not planning long trips, you will find a recommendable model here. However, for more demanding users or frequent off-road trips, there are better, albeit more expensive, options.
