In early June, the JCell Unconference, a meeting place for Java enthusiasts, took place in the delightful Hemlum for the second year in a row. In the tried and tested non-conference manner, the program was dynamically designed on site, inspired by the current challenges and interests of the participants.

One topic of discussion was the future of build systems. Given the growing requirements, particular attention was focused on the integration of supply chain security. Participants discussed strategies to counter the growing threats of cyber attacks aimed at inserting malware into established development processes.
The role of artificial intelligence was highlighted in several sessions. The approach of using AI to simplify the management of tool and library information was particularly interesting. It aims to save you the hassle of searching through documentation while developing and instead provide relevant code information directly.
Open source project and practice on the boat
Apart from various sessions related to topics such as open source development and use of various tools, there were also practical programming exercises. Pair and crowd programming sessions provided opportunities to work together on open source projects and demonstrate the use of various tools.
The highlight of the support program was sailing, which gives Jesell its name. First-time sailors received support from experienced participants and sailed together.
Organisers and participants are already looking forward to the next edition of the JCell UnConference. Keep innovating – until next time!
