Deep Dive: What Apple Intelligence Brings | Mac & i Podcast

A clearer picture of “Apple intelligence” is slowly emerging. In one fell swoop, Apple is introducing a whole bunch of AI functions in iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS 15 that many people have long known from other apps and services. But Apple’s AI model has a built-in advantage over the competition: only Apple intelligence gets insight into a user’s contextual information – from communications to contacts to locations. At the same time, Apple hides complex signals behind a simple user interface and wants to make AI suitable for the masses.

In episode 75, Malte Kirchner and Leo Becker focus in particular on the new functions and their relevance for everyday use. We are also concerned with the problematic child Siri and the question of whether language models bring notable improvements here. Of course, the EU and the Digital Market Act are also topics, as is Apple’s reference to regulatory uncertainty – the AI function may not come to the EU until 2025. We will also talk to our colleague Eva-Maria Weiss about AI. Industry and Apple announcements will be covered there.
