Today at the International Radio Exhibition (IFA) in Berlin, the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) Zoom awarded two IT security seals of approval. Zoom Video Communications, an American software company based in San Jose, California, receives license plates for its two services “Zoom Workplace Basic” and “Zoom Workplace Pro”.

BSI’s IT security label aims to help consumers choose secure digital services. It signals that a product meets certain IT security requirements and provides current information on updates and security features via a QR code on the BSI website or a seal. The label is currently issued for mobile devices, smart consumer appliances, broadband routers, email services and video conferencing services; manufacturers and providers can apply for it.
The IT Security Mark for video conferencing services is based on DIN SPEC 27008 and confirms to the video conferencing provider that the services “Zoom Workplace Basic” And “Zoom Workplace Pro” Meet basic security requirements. These are mainly account security, update and vulnerability management, authentication mechanisms, transparency, secure data center operations, and other functions such as current encryption technologies and controls during video conferences.

BSI Vice President Dr. Gerhard Schabüsser presented the awards in person today and emphasized their importance in the field of IT security: “We congratulate Zoom on being awarded two IT security labels. The video conferencing service provider is thus making a significant contribution to transparency in IT security.
