Baden-wille wants to restrict the use of cell phones in schools

Theresa Shopper (Greens), the Culture Minister of Culture of Baden-Württemberg, wants to ban the personal use of cell phones in schools in the state. The Ministry of the German Press Agency at Stutgart said that a school law regulation has been planned with clear railings to deal with smartphones in schools. “I am worried about the safety of my children and youth,” said Shopper of DPA.

The negative effects of the smartphone are now proven sufficiently. Shopper quoted the ability to concentrate, learning ability and an example for mental health. They can also give rise to cyberbuling or emotional loneliness. “It’s time to do the work,” said the minister.

The general goal should be that children and teenagers are not bombing with constant scattering materials. “This is why we need clear, age -upper rules in our schools, which are widespread acceptance,” said Shopper.

The minister did not say what the rules should look like. A spokesperson said that now the details have to be developed. So far, each school can determine whether it restrictions the use of cell phones during the break through the rules of the school house.

With its advances, the Shopper wants to deal with the personal use of devices. According to the minister, media formation and wise use of end equipment in the classroom, required in a fast digitized world. From the shopper’s point of view, a more effective child and young protection are required outside the schools. The minister said, “To kill scenes ranging from health -decimable videos to pornography – our children come in all these materials through very true checkmarks during age.”

Proper age restrictions and age control are required, which also deserve their names. “So I appeal to the new federal government to emphasize the subject,” said Shopper. In Germany, the rules of dealing with cell phones from school to school and state to state are different.
