Arturia: Update 3.0 for Minifreak brings granular synthesis and samples

Arturia has continued to improve the smaller synthesizer MicroFreaks with firmware updates over the years – the manufacturer is now offering something similar for the larger Arturia MiniFreaks. In addition to sample playback and looping, the new firmware reinstates granular synthesis based on this.

The Arturius update installs the MiniFreak V software incarnation on the hardware synthesizer, which runs on Mac and Windows PCs. If it is up to date, it will display the 3.0 update when the hardware is connected to the MiniFreak.

After clicking “Download and Install Latest”, the synthesizer will take about ten minutes to install the new software. After the first reboot, the software transfers the factory samples, which takes another five minutes if there is enough bandwidth.

Arturia explains that the update adds a classic sample engine that can play, loop, and reverse “carefully curated synth samples, field recordings, and foley sessions.”

Minifreak has a total of eight new oscillators to introduce after the update.

  • Sample: Playback with loop and reverse sample function
  • Cloud Grains: Textured grainy effects for immersive sounds
  • Hit grains: rhythmic stuttering or rapid pulse sounds
  • Frozen: circular, endless lingering sounds
  • scan: spreads samples
  • Particles: Creates pieces from random scraps of sound (particles) for hypnotic effect
  • Lick: Creates fast, percussive rhythmic grooves.
  • Grid: Provides repetition and stutter effects for hypnotic, random rhythmic sequences

Arturia Minifreak Update V3.0.0

New sounds with more oscillators.

The MiniFreak Factory V3 Sound Bank also comes with 64 new presets. Their purpose is to demonstrate “the potential of granular synthesis ranging from frozen textures to noise and textured leads”. Arturia also claims to have improved operations, but did not specify where or how it affects. The developers have addressed communication problems between hardware and software and fixed other bugs, but Arturia does not provide any details about this. Overall, the update aims to ensure “more reliable performance.” on his website Arturia discusses its update 3.0.0 And links to your own videos.
