Apple Music: New export to YouTube

Current Apple Music subscribers who are no longer interested in Apple’s music streaming service will be able to switch to its competitor YouTube Music more easily in the future. Apple has now developed an export function for playlists that were previously lost during the switch.

The new feature will be released in a press release on Wednesday Group Support Documents Outlined. The process isn’t entirely foolproof, but – according to initial testers – it should work well overall. Apples are used here “Data and Privacy” websiteThrough which you can view and download personal information available from Apple. It is over privacy.apple.com Accessible. Both an Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription and an active (paid) YouTube Music account are required. Child accounts or managed Apple ID accounts are not supported.

In theory, all user-created playlists, including shared playlists owned by the user, are transferred. Of course, the music itself is not transferred – so tracks that are not available on YouTube Music are left out. YouTube Music also does not receive folders from Apple Music, nor are curated playlists or other subscribed playlists that do not belong to the user imported.

The transfer process can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours, Apple said. To do this, you must log in with your YouTube Music account. Apple will send the user an email notification when the export is complete. Imports then appear in the “Library” section of YouTube Music. There is no syncing of changes between services. The export also does not delete playlists on Apple Music.

It is commendable that Apple now allows exporting playlists to YouTube Music. The feature is part of an initiative to ease data transfer between Google and Apple services. However, many users still miss actually importing or exporting playlists from Spotify. This in turn clearly stirs up bad moods between the two companies.
