Games publisher Take-Two made its unpopular 2K Launcher redundant and last week removed it from every game that previously couldn’t launch without it. As the American company announced on Monday, it has sent an update to Steam to remove the launcher from the platform. The program was later replaced by a text file for users, which can now be deleted without hesitation. However, there are different instructions for some games.

2K Launcher is a program that intervenes before the actual game starts. Take-Two has previously used the software in several games that were published under the “2K” publishing label. The launcher was implemented regardless of whether the game was purchased through an external platform such as Steam or Epic. Such launchers generally have a bad reputation among customers as they represent a really unnecessary intermediate step to launch a game and are often filled with advertising. Such launchers often require additional login. However, the publisher is not commenting on the reasons for saying goodbye to 2K Launcher.
