All iPhone 16 models should last at least an hour longer

The four new models of the iPhone 16 are said to offer more battery life than the previous generation. Apple has now set out the increase more clearly on its website, although the manufacturer’s information certainly precedes the “up” and needs to be checked more closely in tests. Apple promises particularly high gains in operating time per battery charge for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

At 22 hours, the iPhone 16 should enable two hours more video playback than the iPhone 15. Video streaming should also be possible for two hours more, i.e. up to 18 hours. Audio playback remains at the previous 80 hours.

According to Apple, the iPhone 16 Pro Max manages up to 33 hours of video playback on a single battery charge, which is four hours more than the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Video streaming increases from 25 to 29 hours and audio from 95 to 105 hours.

iPhone 16 Plus offers up to 27 hours of video playback (iPhone 15 Plus: 26), 24 hours of video streaming (20) and 100 hours of audio (100). With iPhone 16 Pro, video playback increases from 23 to 27 hours, video streaming from 20 to 22 hours, and audio from 75 to 85 hours.

Apple explains the jump in battery life on the one hand with the higher energy efficiency of the built-in processor. This has increased significantly with the A18 and A18 Pro. On the other hand, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus have larger batteries. Overall, Apple has also refined the battery management software. Earlier models also benefited from this.

In addition to the battery, Apple has also worked on the charging capabilities of the new iPhones. In the future, the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will be able to charge wirelessly at up to 25 watts. However, this requires a USB-C power supply with at least 30 watts of charging power. New MagSafe chargers will also have to be purchased. With values of 100 watts and above, other manufacturers are far ahead of Apple in this discipline.
