Under the name “Project A34K”, a fan has released a new version of the Science Fiction film “Alien 3”: “The Legacy Cut” is a 1992 cinema version and a mixture of “assembly cut”, published in 2003 with the DVD box “Alien Quadrilogi”. The latter runs at 138 minutes for about half an hour instead of 109 minutes compared to the latter dramatic version. The resulting inheritance cut has increased slightly in 143 minutes.
The manufacturers say that owners of the previous official alien 3 versions have the right to see the new version. Nevertheless, he violates the publication of copyright. Because rights holder is not only the only right to reproduction in the 20th century Fox. The film should not be replaced without his consent.
Therefore, it can be expected that the website A34k.net will soon be closed and the operator – it should be found – the case will be done. However, the 20th -century Fox should be difficult to completely remove the heritage cut from the Internet.
Adjustments are worrying about both the story, providing sequences with the soundtrack with foreign, color and shine improvement. Although the assembly cut lasts longer than 2003, the production company 20 century Fox and director David Fincher depicted or replaced some scenes from the dramatic version.
If you want to avoid spoiling, please jump on the next heel. While the alien has a dog in the cinema version and then mutated in moving a rapidly, it is a bull in the assembly cut. A34K considered these chimars inappropriate and exchanged ox scenes against old dog scenes. New CGI lighting
In the early 90s, digital technology was still in its early stages. On the one hand, the alien was embedded in costumes by mechanical dolls and actors, but was sometimes presented as CGI. But with these rendering, neither the lighting nor the ratio were suitable. For “The Legacy Cut”, the image of the exotic scenes presented to the image was cured with a photoshop, so that the light better fit and the figure is integrated into the better background. Since the views are always very rare, it is only noticeable in comparison to a direct comparison.
However, the inheritance cut also leaves the scenes: Fachagagar was removed from the initial credit to make “mysterious”. Small intermediate views that show the planet were reflected so that the planet rotates the other path. In addition, light effects were re -worked.
Scenes in which the camera is now very striking from the alien perspective: these are now red, apparently to clarify that there is no eye in the traditional sense of the alien.
The inheritance version does not use HDR, but is easily adjusted the color. In some scenes, the picture has a much more yellow part in the picture, meaning that the writing of computer terminals instead of blue appears towards the end of the film.
In some places the cut rhythm was replaced to some extent. This requires more complex adjustments for sound, in which music was sometimes replaced by other pieces from the soundtrack. In addition, some foreign noise was replaced and their volume increased.
4k-upscaling
For the new version, the Blue-Ray version was extracted for 4K with the upper. The color location is still Bt.709/SDR. Compared to this picture that a good UHD UPScaler (Panasonic DP -U -UB9004) gets out of the Blue-Ray disc, the 4K version does not give any advantage in detailed resolution and film grain. The English tone is in stereo and as a 5.1 mixture, there is also an audio comment. However, the manufacturer has left a 5.1 tone outskling on Dolby Atomos.
The manufacturer does not distribute the film independently on the Internet, but with 4K resolution with 50 GB sockets in various quality levels through the password-reserved project page from A34k.net, 5.1 tones, additional files and free through disk envelope.
Unlike George Lucas and James Cameron, AK34 opposed the temptation to convert a film into a current blockbuster since the 1990s. Only in view of vigilant interventions, it can be assumed that the manufacturer’s film industry has a professional background. Working on “The Legacy Cut” for five years will not be uncommon for him. Some other very professional fan editing also requires years as they arise in their spare time.
Such fan cuts repeatedly display, which is possible with today’s processing technology and caution, which begins with color improvement, new special effects, demostering and despair to restore the original cinema movements. Many such editings exist from popular film series such as “Star Wars” and “Lord of the Rings” – all as copyright violations as “Alien 3 Leagacy Cut”.

Is there an official 4K version?
Director David Fincher struggled heavily with the intervention of the studio at that time. Different cuts in the cut withdraw fans.
