The sky in all its aspects – from the redness of glowing sunsets to the dancing northern lights – is this week’s current theme. Our gallery photographers have captured natural phenomena in images in a variety of ways. There are quiet moments as well as dramatic moments.

The serene as well as dynamic boat shapes shine through the sunset and invite you to relax. Don_cuoio writes about this work, “You just listen to the water, admire the beautiful colors of the sunrise and watch how the sea gently rocks the washes back and forth.” it was recorded zanzibar sunrise Off the Indian east coast in February 2012. In Photoshop, the boat was separated from the surroundings and given a slight motion blur, the background was stronger. Finally, both layers were put back together and played with colors in Lightroom.

Such impressive photos were taken almost casually during the eruption of Cumbre Vieja on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands. Sometimes the northern lights also occur on the Baltic Sea coast of Germany. seaside at nightWhich was captured by Volzow in 1902.
