The new Macs are already in the works – and a few weeks before the Apple event: this indeed appears to be the case with the new MacBook Pro models with the M4 SoC. A hardware leak that surfaced last week, of all places in Russia, is now considered genuine by observers. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who generally has good contacts in Cupertino, is convinced that this is so About the “Real Deal” Works. Despite some oddities: the devices’ packaging features the M3 with a background image of its predecessor. And Apple will also for the first time offer an entry-level model with the M4 (i.e. without a Max or Pro) in the color “Space Black”, which was previously reserved only for more expensive devices.

Theft from the warehouse?
The question still arises as to where the hardware leak came from. The last such incident occurred quite a long time ago: in April 2010, during the lifetime of Steve Jobs, an iPhone 4 prototype was found lying in a bar. This tool eventually ended up in a blog editorial team through a complex path and was discussed previously. The entire matter also came before the government lawyer, but was later dropped. This cannot be expected in Russia, which Apple no longer officially supplies.
Gurman and others speculate that the device was stolen “from another country in Europe” and then reached Russia. It is also said that this was a complete delivery, as another offer of 6,000 euros and more could briefly be found on Russian online marketplaces. Additionally, several YouTubers posted introduction videos. It is also possible that the hardware came from Chinese warehouses. It was previously unlikely that the devices would have been available in Europe a few weeks before the announcement – new devices were initially often shipped directly to customers from China.

CO₂-saving logistics
Gurman, on the other hand, believes that Apple is filling its warehouses several weeks before the sales start. He believes the same applies to the new Mac Minis and iMacs with M4 that Apple will likely introduce soon. Apart from this, Apple has also made changes in its logistics. While most equipment was once shipped around the world by air, the company now tries to deliver as much product as possible by sea, which is more climate-friendly. This in turn will require more time, which explains the earlier filling of the warehouse.
However, the fact that it was able to get this far due to the strict security measures that Apple is known for is a blow to the company. The company’s security department probably has a lot of explaining to do to management.
