More than repairable: Teufel presented an unusual Bluetooth speaker in its own flagship store in Berlin during IFA. Teufel itself describes the Mynd as an “open source loudspeaker” and wants to supply not only spare parts, but also publish circuits and printing schemes.

While the batteries in many Bluetooth speakers are not replaceable, you only need to loosen a few screws to access the inner workings of the Mynd. Not only can the battery be replaced, but the electronics can be replaced too, if they give up the ghost. The Bluetooth chip sits on its own plug-in card, so the module can be upgraded to newer versions later. Teufel also wants to publish print templates so you can print different fronts. The loudspeaker is made “largely” from recycled materials, Teufel said, without giving any exact details.
The 38.48 Wh battery should give the speaker 16 hours of runtime. You can charge it via the USB-C socket or use it to charge other devices such as smartphones. The speaker is protected against water and dust according to IP67 ex works. Two tweeters (20 mm), an integrated subwoofer (3.5″) and two passive radiators (50 x 100 mm) will provide powerful sound. Teufel will sell the Mynd in black, white, turquoise and purple. The loudspeaker will still be available this year and cost around 250 euros.

Even more new ideas
In addition to the Mynd, Teuel announced plenty of updates to other products and another completely new introduction. The Real Blue NC over-ear headphones will receive a third version. Among other things, Teuel has worked on improved ANC and transparency mode. The headphones, which cost 230 euros, are scheduled to hit the market in the fourth quarter. The Airy series is complemented by the Pro model. In addition to improved ANC, it should stand out from the sister model Airy TWS 2 with, among other things, a more powerful bass range. The case also charges wirelessly. Teuel aims for a selling price of around 170 euros and a market launch in the fourth quarter as soon as possible. Then the Airy Open TWS will also be released, which costs around 100 euros, which is Teuel’s first open-ear headphones.
