Buyers of e-books and audiobooks at Weltbild have a little more time to secure their content. The bankrupt bookseller originally gave users a deadline of August 31 to save e-books to their PCs and link them to the library. However, in an updated FAQ, Weltbild now writes that users still have until September 30.

Due to bankruptcy, Weltbild will cease business operations on August 31. The company informed buyers of e-books and audiobooks a few weeks ago that they would no longer be able to download their content after that. By extending the deadline, users will have more time to act. But this does not change the basic problem: anyone who does not save their e-books by the deadline could permanently lose access.
Local backup on PC
Backing up content is relatively easy: users need to do this first Open Tolino Web Reader in your browser and log in. Users then log in with their Weltbild customer account and find their content under “My Books” and “My Audiobooks”. The files stored there can be downloaded individually using the three dots below the cover image and saved locally on the PC.
Because the e-books are in the widely used EPUB format, you have several options with them: On the PC you can open EPUBs with Adobe Reader and many other programs, but Amazon’s Kindle reader can also handle EPUBs. Most buyers of e-books at Weltbild have a Tolino e-reader, on which you can continue reading the files after backing them up.
Library Links
The most convenient way is to load e-books and audiobooks into the Tolino Cloud in addition to a local backup so that they are available on the Tolino Reader without interruption. Tolino therefore recommends the so-called Library Link, through which you can connect the libraries of different Tolino stores. Tolino provides instructions on its website.. Via the Library Link, the Weltbild library is stored in the Tolino Cloud and will therefore also be accessible in the future.
Weltbild filed for bankruptcy on June 10, but the search for an investor failed. The bookseller Thalia, which once founded the Tolino brand together with Weltbild, is now considering buying Weltbild’s books, e-books and e-readers product divisions.
