Apple’s current sales list includes a whole range of mobile devices that have long passed their peak. For example, the company still sells its smartphones, the iPhone 13 and 14, which were released in 2021 and 2022, but are no longer compatible with Apple intelligence. Observers therefore expect that a whole range of devices from other series could be removed from the range at the upcoming iPhone 16 event – at least at Apple itself.

Organizing multiple product categories
With the iPhone 15, at least the Pro and Pro Max models could be dropped if the manufacturer follows its usual procedure. These are usually replaced by the current generation. However, the main difference this year is that only these models are ready for Apple Intelligence, while the standard and Plus variants are not.
Accordingly, it can be assumed that the Pro model will remain in the range this year and that the Plus and standard iPhone 15 will be canceled instead. Apple is also currently selling the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. Either the Plus or both models could make the cut here due to the lack of Apple intelligence capability. The same logic applies to the iPhone 13, which is still available – it could also disappear.

Program does not necessarily mean programme
New models of the Apple Watch are expected in three areas – a new Series 10, an Ultra 3 and a plastic-made SE 3. This means that the predecessor Series 9, Ultra 2 and SE 2 could be removed from the range – especially if the SE 3 is marketed cost-effectively. When it comes to AirPods, Apple is reportedly merging the AirPods 2 and AirPods 3 into a double AirPods 4 line – one model with noise cancellation (ANC) and one without. This could be an opportunity for Apple to phase out the AirPods 2 and 3, which will arrive in 2019 and 2021. Finally, there are current rumors about an iPad mini 7. If it arrives, the 2021 predecessor will likely be removed from the range.
However, if Apple officially discontinues it, it is always the case that stock will still be available in stores for a few months – and often even years. For example, you can still do this today iPhone 12 (from €469.90) As a new product from 2020 that the manufacturer no longer offers. In addition, in individual markets, especially in poorer areas of the world, Apple still supplies its channels with older devices that are produced specifically for them, for example in Brazil. The same applies to accessory products such as AirPods or Apple Watch.
