iPhone SE 4: Apple’s launch schedule could look like this

The launch of the new iPhones won’t take long: Apple is holding its “It’s Glorytime” event with the new 16-series models next Monday. What is not expected, however, is a new (and fourth) generation iPhone SE. Apple usually introduces its entry-level cell phone in the spring, which will be available for several years. This information about the device is already available.

Major renovation, but the look remains the same

So far, the iPhone SE, whose third generation of 2022 is the youngest, is ultimately still based on the 2016 iPhone 7. It is the only Apple smartphone that still has a home button with a fingerprint sensor (Touch ID) and no facial recognition (Face ID). Apple combines old technology with modern internal workings – for 2022 – including 5G support.

Rumors claim it will be similar to the iPhone SE 4. However, this time the new entry-level model will be based on the standard model of the iPhone 14. It was released in 2022 and, as an external sign, still comes with Apple’s famous notch – and not with the “dynamic island” that is available in all versions of the iPhone 15. In terms of price, Apple should end up at around 530 euros.

The iPhone SE 4’s display could be 6.1 inches, and Apple will likely use the A18 as the SoC, which is planned for the iPhone 16 and will be compatible with Apple Intelligence. As mentioned, Face ID will be standard, and the SE 4 will also have a USB-C port for the first time. RAM will be upgraded to 8 GB – also for Apple Intelligence – and the device will have an Apple 5G modem as the radio chip for the first time, which the company has been working on for years. The rear camera is now said to be a 48-megapixel model, but only as a sensor. With a bit of luck, Apple will also give the iPhone SE 4 an action button, as first introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max and will likely be found on all iPhone 16 models as well.

All functions and features are designed to ensure that the iPhone SE 4 can remain in the range for at least several years. The update for the SE is currently around three years. At the moment it is expected to be available in March or April. With the iPhone 16, most iPhone models in Apple’s range will be enabled with Apple Intelligence.
