Apple’s Magsafe is a useful feature on iPhones. The wireless charger is attached to the smartphone using magnets. Wireless charging via MagSafe works through inductive technology similar to the Qi standard, in which charging coils in the smartphone and charger transmit power via induction. Advantage: You don’t need a cable to carry with you. Disadvantage: Efficiency is lower than wired solutions, charging takes longer and the Qi standard does not enable data transfer.
In addition to Apple, many third-party providers also offer related accessories. One of them is Torus, which offers power banks compatible with MagSafe with products such as the Torus Ostand iPhone protective cases with an integrated stand (test report). We have tested the Ostand power bank from Torus and shown whether it is worth buying.
Design and workmanship
The power bank is manufactured with high quality and looks very attractive. Visually, this model fits very well with the iPhone, it is available in black and white. Five small LEDs inform the user about the charge level when the button on the side of the housing is pressed. The surface feels pleasant and does not show fingerprints. The power bank connects securely to the iPhone via MagSafe.
The 5000mAh variant is quite slim at 11.6mm and weighs around 131 grams. The length is around 102mm and the width is 70mm. The 10,000mAh model is slightly more roomy and is 165mm thick with otherwise similar dimensions. The weight is 205 grams.
The stand is well resolved. You can fold it and rotate it 360 degrees if you want. The hinge is always tight enough to prevent unwanted adjustments.
Charging power and battery capacity

Charging the 5000mAh power bank version uses a USB-C port with a maximum input of 18 watts, alternatively, you can also charge it wirelessly via Qi with 7.5 watts. The wireless output via MagSafe is 7.5 watts, via cable it is 15 watts. This means that the power bank charges the iPhone by about 20 percent in 30 minutes. This matches the average of MagSafe power banks from our tests.
The 10,000mAh model offers 20W input and can charge wirelessly with 15W, 20W is possible via cable. Protection against heat and overcharging is provided. LiCoO2 is used as the battery cell.

conclusion
The Torus Ostand Power Bank for MagSafe is a very practical accessory that every iPhone owner should consider. The mobile charging station is stylish, well-made and sticks firmly to the magnet. The foldable rotating base is very practical and we really liked it. Thanks to wireless charging, you don’t have to have a charging cable with you, even though wired charging is faster than wireless. Unfortunately, the smaller model with 5000 mAh charges more slowly via MagSafe than the larger version. The Torus product is also more expensive than competitors, but leaves an impression of high quality.
