It is still unclear whether the “Apple Watch Series 10” to be released in autumn will be an anniversary edition. After all, the manufacturer’s first computer watch was introduced in 2014 but hit the market in 2015. Nevertheless, the new model should have a number of changes. This is what the usually well-informed Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has found out.

“Series 10” and “Ultra 3” are getting closer together
like him in your newspaper on Sunday Apple is counting on larger screens for models that have internal code names N217 and N218. These are believed to be as large as the Apple Watch Ultra. Related CAD images from Asia had already appeared in late June. Instead of the current 1.7-inch larger model, the “Apple Watch Series 10” could have a 2-inch screen, it was said at the time. It will also be slightly larger than the Ultra’s current 1.93-inch screen. At the same time, the external dimensions will increase slightly and the edges will also become thinner.
Gurman continues to write that the “Series 10” is getting thinner. However, nothing has changed in the basic design. Confusingly, Apple is reportedly not planning any major changes to the “Apple Watch Ultra 3”. It will bring the “Series 10” and “Ultra 3” together, which could confuse customers. It has always been different from the regular Apple Watch due to a more robust housing and a larger screen. Internally, Apple is planning several changes. According to Gurman, both models will get new systems-in-a-package (SiPs), which will be made even faster.
No Apple intelligence for the watch
The more powerful internal workings of the watch should also serve to allow more AI functions. However, the SiPs are reportedly still not fast enough to run Apple intelligence. Gurman writes, “For the time being, this service is only available for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Later it will also be available for Vision Pro, but there are no plans to bring the entire AI initiative to the watch.” Regarding the watch’s planned new sensors, Gurman writes that Apple is trying to detect both blood pressure and sleep apnea. However, the project is said to have had some problems. It may be that the detection of (very) high blood pressure will be postponed for another year. In principle, it is not intended to measure blood pressure directly, instead, the watch should warn when there is a deviation from the normal value; it reminds of that Clock temperature measurementIn which no degree is visible.
The sleep apnea detection is said to be related to the integrated blood oxygen sensor, which is currently being phased out in the United States due to a patent dispute. However, it is unclear if the group will be able to reach an out-of-court settlement by September or find another solution. Apple has also been working on blood sugar monitoring for a long time, but according to Gurman, it is not yet complete. Otherwise, Apple is working on a new way to make Apple Watch cases. This involves a new type of 3D printing. The Apple Watch SE should be discounted and may possibly have a plastic casing instead of aluminum. The new Apple Watch models are expected to be introduced in September alongside the iPhone 16 series.
