The film is produced by New Regency. Ubisoft and New Regency announced their partnership for the “Watch Dogs” film in 2016, but production has been largely quiet since then. It was announced in early June Industry magazine deadlines Some new details have finally emerged: actors Tom Blyth and Sophie Wilde will play roles in the film.

The video game template for the film is an open world game revolving around hackers: in the first part, released in 2014, the main character Aiden Pearce travels through an open game world based on Chicago and, thanks to his hacking skills, misuse other passers-by’s smartphones live. This live hacking and the associated special abilities are an essential part of the action adventure. Pearce can, for example, steal money or manipulate traffic lights.

The second part, which came to the market just two years after Part 1, is also based on the same game system. Part 3 in 2020 supplemented the famous “Watch Dogs” gameplay with a new gimmick: in “Watch Dogs Legion”, players can turn any NPC from the open game world in London into game characters.

It is not known whether the “Watch Dogs” series will continue. No new parts have been announced at the moment. Development studio Ubisoft Toronto recently brought “Far Cry 6” to the market and has since mainly supported other studios in the development of games such as “Avatar Frontiers of Pandora” and “Star Wars Outlaws”.

The production of the film shows that Ubisoft has not yet given up on its “Watch Dogs” brand. Previous experience with video game adaptations clearly shows that the release of films and series can also increase the number of players. This happened recently with “Fallout” – the role-playing game series celebrated a renaissance thanks to the Amazon series.
