Existing Disney+ subscribers will soon have to pay more to continue using 4K resolution and Dolby Atmos. According to media reports, Disney will soon inform its customers about this through an email. The price of Disney+ premium subscription will be 12 euros instead of the previous 9 euros.

The background is that Disney is switching its existing subscribers to the new pricing model, which has been effective for new subscribers since last November. At that time, the same Disney+ subscription was divided into three different tiers. However, existing subscribers initially had access to the highest premium tier at the previous price. That is now changing. The new prices will also apply to existing subscribers from July 24. Focus Online report. You will need to choose one of three models.

The Premium level is similar to the subscription already available: it is the only subscription that continues to offer 4K resolution and Dolby Atmos. In addition, there are only 4 streams possible at the same time. So if you want to enjoy all the previous benefits, you will have to pay 12 euros per month or 120 euros per year.
No HDR or 4K for 9 euros
However, if you only want to continue paying 9 euros per month, you’ll have to live with the restrictions. For the current price point, new subscribers only get a “standard” subscription. It only offers FullHD resolution and removes both Dolby Atmos playback and HDR display. In addition, the standard subscription only allows two simultaneous streams.
The third option is an ad-free subscription for 6 euros per month. Like the standard subscription, content can only be viewed on a maximum of two devices at the same time in FullHD. In addition, playback is interrupted by ads. Downloads are not possible at this subscription level.
In announcing the new pricing structure last summer, Disney promised that existing subscribers would initially be moved to the premium model at no additional charge, but reserved the right to make “changes in the future.” Anyone who booked their subscription after last November is already in the new pricing structure and shouldn’t expect any changes.
