12 inch and light: The most compact MacBook celebrates 10th birthday – without successor

Fanless and less than one kilo

Macbook Air 13 as a heavy successor

Apple approved a total of three generations of 12 -inch MacBook. In addition to the first of 2015, those who gave new core processor in 2016 and 2017, after the M model, finally an i5 and even an I7. This made compact more useful for more professional applications. In 2019, Apple finally decided to get the product line out of the program, with it removed without replacement. Since then there has been only MacBook Pro in different variants and MacBook Air. The machine weighs more than 1.2 kg.

It is not clear whether Apple had mercy to bring a compact macBook under a kilo of weight one day. There are no current rumors. Apple-Silicon chips will really be ideal: MacBook Air can also do without fans with the new M4.
