The concept goes far beyond the infotainment system, which is currently occupied by CarPlay 1.0, and also aims to connect elements to the iPhone to control vehicle systems and displays.
It’s unclear whether Apple only plans to integrate widgets into CarPlay 2.0 or whether the potential leak could also provide information about an upcoming update for first CarPlay generation users. The expansion of widgets to CarPlay would at least be consistent after Apple first introduced a kind of broader concept across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. The images shown now do not require any connection to the car beyond the current CarPlay.
